Stella Crompton

Stella Crompton is the Trumpet Tutor for the WYO.
Stella has a three generation connection to the WYO; as a native of Kendal, her father played the violin in the orchestra in its very early days, Stella was a member herself as a teenager, and now her son is involved as a trombonist.
Stella enjoyed lots of playing as a teenager around Cumbria and beyond, including WYO, winning the Keldwyth Award and playing a number of concertos. She went on to study at the RNCM, and some further study at the Frankfurt Conservatoire, before a busy playing career on the Continent.
Stella decided to return to her beloved Lake District in order to balance her musical life with her love of the outdoors. She now enjoys a very varied career; playing in different orchestras and ensembles, teaching both piano and trumpet at Windermere School, plus coaching for both WYO and the National Youth Wind Orchestra.
Stella hopes that any member of the WYO will look back on their time in the orchestra and the friends they have made there with great fondness as she does. Plus, of course, the extremely valuable musical training it offers.
